Hotels in Ghana
Accra, the state capital of Ghana, is a coastal city which by African standards is small, with a metropolitan population of under 2 million. Also by African standards it is safe, clean, friendly and well ordered, and as a consequence it is something of a destination unto itself.
With great beaches quite a few of the best hotels in Ghana have a beach resort ambience with high standards of exclusivity and privacy. The Golden Tulip is particularly highly rated, but others include Labadi Beach Hotel, La Palm Royale Beach Hotel and the Elmina Beach Hotel.
Lower down the price scale there are a handful of beach lodges and guest houses with rates as low as US$20 per night, and throughout the city there are a surprising number of well rated budget establishments, with a handful less well rated, and some regularly slated.
Outside of Accra, and particularly west up the coast, there are several beach lodges and resorts of varying standards. Cape Coast is a particular favourite with its extensive old slaving fort of Cape Coast Castle. Inland the number and standard of hotels are patchy, although reasonable accommodation is usually available at all of the major sights and national parks.
