Harare is still a major local capital and transport hub, and has in the past been a centre for regional diplomatic, aid and crisis missions, so it has an excellent hotel network including the flagship Sheridan Harare, and local five star Meikles Hotels which enjoys and international reputation. Besides this there are a handful of good, midrange hotels, with a similar number of cheaper, residential style establishments.
A popular option in Harare is a small collection of privately owned luxury lodges situated in the surrounding suburbs, which offer exclusive, personalised service and accommodation, and a link into the local luxury tour market.
Similarly around the country there is a wide selections of brand name hotels, some, including the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel, rank among the finest in the world. There are also a number of dedicated wildness and wildlife lodges associated with most of the premier national parks, as well as resort hotels, some with casinos, situated mainly in the Eastern Highlands.
On the whole Zimbabwe is very well served by both high and medium rated hotel and lodge establishments, which has been, and remains one of the principal attractions of the country.
